The details

Who we are

This policy covers Janan Care Pty Ltd (ABN 50 671 803 482), a registered NDIS provider based in Bella Vista, NSW. We follow the Privacy Act 1988, the Australian Privacy Principles and the NSW Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002.

What we collect

Much of what we hold is health information, which the law treats as sensitive: we collect it only when we need it, with consent from you or someone authorised to act for you. When you make an enquiry: your name, phone number, email, suburb, whether you are a participant, family member or professional, the kind of support and hours you are asking about, and anything you choose to tell us. When we support someone: contact details, NDIS plan and funding details, the support needs and health information we need to give safe support, and the details of family, nominees, support coordinators and plan managers. If you apply to work with us: your contact details, identity documents, work history, qualifications, training records, and worker screening and Working With Children Check details. When you use this website: pages visited, device type and approximate location, through analytics cookies.

How we collect it

Mostly from you: through our website form, social media enquiry forms, phone calls, emails and messages. With your consent, we also collect it from people acting for you, such as a family member, nominee, support coordinator, plan manager or hospital team, and from your NDIS plan when you share it with us.

Why we use it

To reply to your enquiry and work out whether we can help; to plan and deliver supports and roster the right workers; to make claims and send invoices to the NDIA or your plan manager; to meet the NDIS Practice Standards and the law, including incident reporting and worker screening; and to improve our services, this website and our advertising. We never use your health information to send you marketing.

Who we share it with

Only who needs it: the support workers and staff on your team; the NDIA, your plan manager and your support coordinator, so we can deliver and claim for supports; the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and other authorities when the law requires it; and service providers who store or process information for us, such as our customer records, rostering, email, document storage, transcription and analytics systems, under confidentiality. We do not sell personal information.

Information stored outside Australia

Some of the service providers we use, including our customer records system and Google services, may store information in the United States or other countries. We take reasonable steps to choose established providers with strong security, and we only send them what they need to do their job.

How we keep it safe and how long we keep it

Only staff who need information can see it, and our systems are password-protected. We keep information only as long as we need it or the law requires, and then securely delete it.

If there is a data breach

If personal information is lost or accessed without permission and this is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Seeing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by calling 1300 323 296 or emailing [email protected]. We will reply within a reasonable time. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why in writing and tell you how to complain.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help people. It uses cookies and does not identify you by name. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
