Who is 24/7 support at home for?

Adults with disability who need support for much of the day, and often the night, and want to stay in their own home or the family home. Often the family has been doing the night shifts.

Support can be a few hours or every hour
  1. A few hours: a morning routine
  2. Most of the day: 7am to 9pm
  3. Around the clock: day and night

We can staff all of them.

Will the same workers come?

  • The same small team. We build a small regular team around each person, and they cover every shift, nights included.
  • You meet them first. We introduce every new worker before their first shift, and check in with you after it.
  • Cover when plans change. If your regular worker can’t come, we send someone else from your team.
  • Checked and trained. Every Janan Care support worker has NDIS Worker Screening clearance, a Working With Children Check and our training before their first shift.

What does a 24/7 roster look like?

Every roster is different. Here is a typical day:

TimeSupportWhat happens
7am to 10amMorningGetting up, showering, dressing, breakfast and medication routine
10am to 3pmDayAppointments, shopping, outings, your therapist’s home programs and lunch
3pm to 10pmEveningCooking dinner together, household tasks and getting ready for bed
10pm to 7amNightActive overnight or sleepover (compared below)

Weekends and public holidays follow the same pattern.

Active overnight or sleepover: what’s the difference?

There are two ways to cover the night:

Active overnightSleepover night
The workerStays awake all nightSleeps at the home and gets up when needed
Suits people whoNeed turning, toileting or checks during the night, or wake oftenUsually sleep through but need someone close by

We provide both, and a roster can mix them through the week.

How we start

  1. First conversation. Call or send a message. We reply to every enquiry within 24 hours.
  2. Home visit. We meet the person and family, go through the NDIS plan, and learn their routines.
  3. Agreement and care plan. A plain-English service agreement, then a care plan and home risk assessment before any shift.
  4. Worker matching. We match workers on location, skills, gender, language and culture.
  5. Settling in. We check in again about two weeks in, to make sure the roster is right.

24/7 at home or SIL?

Both give daily support. The difference is where you live and how it’s funded:

Areas we support

We support people across Blacktown, Western Sydney, South Western Sydney and The Hills, in these council areas:

  • Blacktown
  • The Hills
  • Penrith
  • Fairfield
  • Parramatta
  • Cumberland
  • Liverpool
  • Canterbury‑Bankstown
  • Camden
  • Campbelltown

About 16,900 NDIS participants in these ten council areas have the highest support needs, at NDIA level of function 11 to 15 (our count from NDIS Explore Data, the six months to 30 June 2026).

Based in Bella Vista, with no office to visit.

What if the plan is reduced?

  • The 2026 budget reset doesn’t cut daily living support at home In force From 1 October 2026 the NDIA can cut two kinds of funding in new and reassessed plans. Assistance with daily living, which pays for support at home, isn’t one of them.
  • If your plan funds 24‑hour care and at least $215,030, there’s a safeguard In force You can ask for the plan to be varied within 90 days if a reduction leaves too little funding for the 24‑hour care.

The rules in detail

The budget reset. The two kinds of funding are social and community participation, and improved daily living skills. The Act names “assistance with daily living” and “home and living” as outside those cuts (NDIS Act s34A and s47B(9), and the Support Determination 2026; in force).

The 24‑hour care safeguard. Both must apply: the plan funds continuous 24‑hour care, and it has at least $215,030 across daily living, home and living and community participation supports. NDIS Act s47B and the High Support Needs Participants Determination 2026 (in force).

Questions families ask about 24/7 support at home

Call 1300 323 296

Can I get 24/7 support at home without moving into SIL?

Yes. If your plan funds the hours, we can deliver 24/7 support in your own home or the family home.

What happens if a support worker is sick?

Another worker from your regular team covers the shift.

Can support start straight after a hospital discharge?

Yes, if we can finish the care plan and home risk assessment before the first shift. Call us as early as you can. We meet the family and read the discharge plan.

How is 24/7 support at home funded?

Usually from the Core budget in the NDIS plan, under Assistance with Daily Life, and the plan sets the hours. If you need more, your support coordinator can ask for a plan change. We can help you work out the roster.

Do I pay Janan Care anything?

No. The NDIS covers all our fees. We charge nothing outside your plan. Everyday living costs, such as groceries, rent and bills, aren’t NDIS supports.
